Booking and your first visit
Do you take walk-ins?
No. I work by appointment only. Book online anytime. If you’d like an appointment within the next 6 hours, please call or text me at 678-463-6114 so I know you’re coming.
Where are you, and is it easy to find?
On Point Massage is in Suite 250 in East Cobb, Marietta, and parking is easy. The office is on the second floor, up 17 steps with close railings. There is no elevator, so the office is not wheelchair accessible. Plenty of my clients with knee trouble manage the stairs just fine. If you’re unsure, call me and we’ll talk it through.
How experienced are you?
I graduated massage school in 2002 and have been practicing ever since. I’m a licensed massage therapist and Board Certified (LMT, BCTMB).
What happens at my first visit?
A short intake form is required to book online, so it’s done before you arrive. We’ll start with a 5 to 10 minute consultation. I may follow up on something from your form, and I always ask what you’re dealing with right now and what you want out of the session.
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable in. For deep tissue and table work, you can stay fully clothed, undress completely under the drape, or anything in between. The one rule is no shoes on the table. For Thai massage, wear clothes you can move in; athletic wear works nicely. A great massage doesn’t do much if you’re uncomfortable, so your comfort comes first.
What’s the difference between deep tissue, Thai, and structural reflexology?
Deep tissue: on a table, usually mostly undressed under a drape, with lotion. I work fascia, trigger points, tension, circulation, and nerve-related pain with my hands and tools like cups. More about deep tissue
Thai massage: on a floor mat, fully clothed, no lotion. Assisted stretching combined with pressure on areas of tension and acupoints. More about Thai massage
Structural reflexology: focused work on the lower leg, ankle, and foot to open up the joints where bone and muscle tension meet. It isn’t “relaxation” in the usual sense, but it’s effective. More about structural reflexology
During and after your session
Will it hurt?
We talk about pressure before we start. I use only enough pressure to get a response from the tissue, not as much as you can take. I’m happy to adjust within that, and I check in throughout the session, so speak up anytime. What I won’t do is push past what’s safe for you or for me, even on request. Deep work doesn’t have to be painful work, and if you’re looking for someone to go as hard as possible, I may not be the right fit.
Will I be sore afterward?
It depends on your condition going in. Some soreness for a day or two can be normal after deep work, and it’s nothing a warm Epsom salt soak won’t handle. Drinking water and some light stretching are generally considered helpful. I’d also hold off on pushing yourself to exhaustion at the gym until the next day.
How often should I come in?
That depends on your goal and how intense the problem is. A common path is weekly visits until your pain or goal holds steady between sessions, then every other week, and eventually every 3 to 4 weeks for maintenance. How quickly you get there also depends on your activity level and on following any simple stretching or exercise guidance we discuss.
What’s the office like?
Calm and professional, with a few of my hobbies around the room; you’ll see plants. I ask that everyone be respectful, and I keep conversation away from religion and politics.
Payment and policies
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, card, and Zelle.
Should I tip?
Tips are always welcome, but never expected or required.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t bill health insurance. I’m happy to provide receipts and session notes on request if you’d like to submit them yourself.
What is your cancellation policy?
I need 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule at no charge. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged 50% of the service. No call, no show is charged in full. Late arrivals may still end at the scheduled time. Exceptions are at my discretion.
Do gift certificates and packages expire?
Never. Just keep track of your code; it’s in the email you received.
Who I can see
Is there anyone you can’t see?
Pregnancy: I don’t offer prenatal massage. Please see a therapist who specializes in it.
Minors: welcome, with a parent or responsible adult present.
Recent surgery: I won’t work near a surgical site for at least 6 to 8 weeks, sometimes longer.
Major medical events: I may ask for guidance from your physician before we begin.
Under the influence: I won’t work on anyone who has been drinking or is under the influence.
